ABOUT ME

I’ve always loved languages and have been translating, writing, and editing them professionally for over 30 years. I’m fascinated by the huge variety of ways different languages go about expressing the same ideas and the often very different registers they can use in similar settings. Languages mirror the heart and soul of the cultures that use them. The things that are unique about them say as much about a country and its people as their food, music, art, and way of life.

So, whether I’m translating a children’s picture book, an academic paper, or a technical manual, I not only make sure that I’m using the right words, but also the right register, the right level of formality, and the right style. I make sure that the cultural transfer is as accurate as the linguistic one. Without taking all these factors into account, it’s simply not possible to faithfully translate one language to another.

I'm accredited as an Italian-English translator by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia. I have a Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing and a BA in Music.
